Rising Dampness

Damp issues are without doubt one of the most frequent problems encountered by homeowners. Each year, the typical home in the Scotland has to deal with around 16,000 gallons / 72,737 litres of rain water, therefore it is not surprising that dampness can cause many headaches for property owners. Damp can also provide a suitable breeding ground for house mites and mould, aggravating respiratory problems such as asthma. The effects of damp also make the property cold and unattractive.

Condensation in bathroom / shower room

Condensation problems

Condensation is the most common form of dampness found in properties. This is mainly due to improved standards of insulation, double glazing and draught-proofing treatment of properties that all provide better heat retention, but results in a lack of ventilation and stale air, precipitating the need for condensation treatment. Condensation can lead to black mould, peeling wall coverings, damage to clothing or fabrics and unpleasant damp musty smells within your property. We can offer a range of condensation solutions from advice in lowering humidity levels in the home through to recommendation of ventilation products.

Rising damp in bedroom

Rising damp problems

Any building that does not benefit from a functioning damp proof course (DPC) could be vulnerable to rising and penetrating damp.

All types of property damp issues are potentially destructive, some more so than others. An incorrect diagnosis of rising damp when it is in fact condensation, for example, can prove to be very costly, both financially and in terms of disruption.
